To enroll, the applicant can either schedule a personal
interview to fill out an application for admission, or begin by submitting a
secure application online. Depending on the requirements of the course, an
applicant may be scheduled for an assessment test to determine basic skill
or ability levels. If the applicant is accepted into the program, she/he
must complete an enrollment agreement and pay an application fee and/or
registration fee in order to reserve a seat in the class. The registration
fee also serves as a tuition deposit and is subtracted from the total course
charge.
Do I need a High School Diploma or a GED? In
general, applicants for admission must possess a high school diploma or GED.
For some courses, however, students may be admitted if they can demonstrate
an ability to benefit from the course, as measured by an assessment test.
Furthermore, students should demonstrate the ability to secure employment
upon completion of training.
Can prospective students visit the
campus? NTI encourages prospective students to visit the campus to attend
small group information sessions, to schedule a time for an individual
guided visit during which you may sit in on selected classes, or to visit
the campus on their own. Appointments are necessary, and space can usually
be reserved with short notice by calling (207) 883-5130 between 8:30 AM and
7:00 PM (Eastern Time). Individual visits to classes may be made Monday
through Friday (holidays excluded).
Are there any
advantages to applying early? Yes. Because students are notified on a
continuous basis throughout each stated application deadline period, the
class may become filled over time, and admissions decisions may become
limited by space and student mix. Therefore, applicants are advised to apply
for admission as early as possible.
Are interviews necessary? Yes - any applicants find that an interview offers a way to personalize the
individual application beyond what is articulated in the application form.
Because interview availability is limited, applicants should reserve an
appointment as early as possible. Only one interview is conducted for each
applicant. The interview is conducted by an NTI Admissions Representative.
Can I
apply to NTI online? Yes. You can apply for both Admissions and Financial
Assistance online. You do not need to send a printed copy of your
application, but you should retain a printed copy for your records. There is
neither an advantage nor a disadvantage to applying online.
Is NTI an accredited school? We are
Licensed by the State of Maine and Massachusetts Department of Education;
and the Maine Secretary of State. We are also approved by the ME, NH
and MA Division of Employment and Training (for ITA, TRA and WIA funding)
and most of our programs are approved by the Veteran's Administration.
Do you have a job placement
department? NTI offers placement assistance to graduates who successfully
complete the course and are in good standing with the school. The Career
Development office:
- Assists students in application and resume
preparation. - Teaches professional interview techniques. - Helps
the student identify and contact prospective employers. - Contacts
local and out-of-state employers to ascertain their employment needs and
requirements.
NTI does not promise or guarantee
employment, however, a sincere and determined effort is made to assist
students in finding jobs. This placement service is available to all
graduates in good standing for the life of the school at no extra charge.
Is NTI VA approved? NTI programs and courses have also been
approved for VA benefits and in many cases approved by the Department of
Employment Security for Benefits while training.
